Tea Time – Foraging Delicious Teas / Teekräuter sammeln – Friday, 2nd of June

A workshop with a playful way of meeting plants and natural learning with the old knowledge and teaching method of native cultures. (Coyoteteaching)
We will move through nature and stop from time to time, to search and find together plants, that can be used for making delicious and healthy tea.

In a playful way we will learn and discover with our senses by touching, tasting and listening ( yes! 😉 ) to the herbs. Leaves, Needels, Berries – We will meet the plants, learn what and how to use from them and come home with your own freshly collected herbal tea!

Friday, 2nd of June, 9:00 (morning)
Around 2 hours
Meeting point: Gerakas, in front of the kiosk (Infocenter of the marine park)

Please bring:
comfortable clothes, walking shoes
sun protection (hat, cream)
something to sit on the floor (cloth,…)
drink and small snack
paper, pen

Ein Workshop mit spielerischen Übungen und natürlichen Lernerlebnissen nach der Methode nativer Kulturen. («Coyoteteaching»)
Wir werden uns in der Natur bewegen, immer wieder verweilen, um diese Pflanzen zu entdecken, mit denen wir unseren Kräutertee zubereiten können.
Auf spierische Art und Weise und dem Gebrauch unserer Sinne werden wir mittels erfühlen, erschmecken und zuhören (jaja..! 😉 ) die Kräuter kennenlernen. Ob Blätter, Nadeln oder Blüten – wir erfahren was hier so alles wächst und zu wunderbar köstlichem und gesundheitsförderendem Tee verarbeitet werden kann.
Wir entdecken und sammeln gemeinsam und am Ende hat jeder seinen eigenen zakynthischen Wildkräutertee für zuhause!

hike & learn how to make Μουσταλευρία (moustalevria)

Autumn time is here! Welcoming us with ripe grapes and a fresh breeze. 🙂

On Sunday, 25th of September, we will make a moderate morning walk through the hills, forests and vineyards in the mountainous region of Zakynthos. Passing the monastery Yperagathos our circular hike will bring us back to the starting point in the picturesque village Loucha, next to the church.

After our walk we meet around 12:00 in Kiliomenos at the Melissiotises (Women´s Agricultural Cooperative of Kiliomenos) and can learn there how to make the Moustalevria – a traditional speciality made of …grapejuice and…? Oooh, it´s a secret! We will see it there! 😉
And ofc we will eat what we cooked together, just as well as some samples from the homemade products of the Melissiotises!

And one more extra:
After hiking, cooking and tasting you can go to Ampelostrates to learn about tsipouro and listen to live music from Crete

Not in our program, but so wonderful to walk, that we will do this tomorrow:
Tuesday, 20th of September we make an evening walk in Marathia, with amazing view to Marathonisi, enjoying the fresh green of the forest and trying to catch the sunset in the end!
Walking time around 2 hours, easy walk

Στο ανέβασμα ηλιοβασίλεμα, στο κατέβασμα πανσέληνος (σχεδόν..)! Αύριο, Σάββατο 17/09, κατά τις 17:00, θα ανέβουμε και πάλι στον Σκοπό 🙂

Saturday 17/09 sunset-fullmoon (almost..) hiking up to Skopos!

jaja, der Vollmond ist heute… Doch morgen ist es auch wunderschön, da oben am Berg! 😉 Mit traumhaftem Ausblick rauf und im Mondlicht runter. Wo genau? Skopos – von Kalamaki aus. Beginn 17h, Gehzeit ca 4 Stunden, rund 400 Höhenmeter. Am Ende Taverna-Therapy

Come with us to the harvest in a traditional Zakynthian vineyard and press them like in old times: with the feet! 😀
Afterwards we will enjoy homemade food and wine in the shade of the olivetrees.

SUNDAY 11/09 TRIGOS – Vine Harvest: Traditional harvest and pressing of the grapes – In Skoulikado we will harvest the sweet grapes in a traditional Zakynthian vineyard and press them like in old times: with the feet! J After this we will enjoy homemade food and wine in the shade of the olivetrees.

SUNDAY 25/09 Loucha & WORKSHOP: How to make moustalevria, a traditional sweet speciality – After our hike around Loucha we visit the Melissiotises (Women’s Agricultural Cooperative of Kiliomenos), try their homemade products and learn how to make (and ofc eat J ) moustalevria, this Zakynthian speciality, typical for the grape harvesting season.

SATURDAY 01/10 & SUNDAY 02/10 KEFALONIA: Visit mountain Ainos on our neighbour island – Our hike on Kefalonia´s highest mountain Ainos (1628m in height)  will be on Sunday, walking up to the peak, starting from 1150m. After the hike we will visit the church Agios Gerasimos and an old village.
Departure on Saturday afternoon from Agios Nikolaos, return to Zakynthos on Sunday afternoon. Accommodation is in Arocaria Apartments, including breakfast.
